We were not planning on it, but we were treated
to a party in an art gallery/cafe. Searching for a particular hang out known for lively entertainment and excellent beverages, the place actually closed earlier than we had thought. What to do? Improvise.
This was not where we were supposed to end up. The original location of friendly get together was closed (information on the Internet was not up to date). So we had to improvise and were lucky to find a coffee, tea, pastry cafe on the way back home. The establishment offered video games, karaoke, and had art on exhibit. We took our time and checked out the featured pieces while enjoying smoothies and bubble teas.
The styles on display varied and were categorized in interesting assortments on the wall. Some of the proportions were exaggerated while others were photorealistic. In some sections, the pieces told a story while in others the works were representative of a genre or style category. Music was playing as we wondered through examining what on exhibit.
Each wall seemed to tell a story as we got settled in for the evening. Preparing to play multiple rounds of Smash Brothers, we laughed and commented on our favorites especially the DC and Marvel renderings and the Transformers.
The renditions of Spawn and Batman were great. The Rogues Gallery was represented and some of the scenes were from the comics or from the Arkham Asylum series.
On the green wall, there was Swamp Thing. Kind of fitting, right?
This one reminded us of Starry Night and demonstrated how diverse the works were from manga fusion, traditional, to abstract, and more. Some of the displayed frames had water colors, air brush, pencils and ink, as well as paint and digital.
Everyone won a round and lost a round in Smash Brothers. We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks, laughed and savored the experience, and had an overall fufilling evening surrounded by sights and sounds. To think, this was purely by chance (hopefully the Quarter Guy finishes his quest) and we were not supposed to end up here. Funny how things work out in the end.
